Does anybody get that Israel is reacting and retaliating from a strategic/military standing? These countries have forgotten that Gaza sent over 100 missiles to schools and other civilian areas in the course of a weekend (that was one weekend, they have not stopped firing for a month) and that after the abduction of the IDF soldier (after the terrorist killed 2 Israeli soldiers in the process) Israel bombed 3 bridges not due to a "disproportionate use of force" but to ensure that the terrorists did not smuggle their own IDF soldier into Egypt.

As for Lebanon - Israels "disproportionate use of force" of bombing of the Beirut International Airport (after Hezbollah terrorists killed and then kidnapped IDF soldiers - unprovoked by Israel - and has been firing missiles all over the northern territory of Israel) and the Israel Navy blockading Lebanon's ports is to hopefully prevent further terrorist weapons succeeding passage into Lebanon and furthering terrorism against Israel. Oh, and the Hezbollah guerrillas are trying to transfer the captured soldiers to Iran, clearly another reason why Israel has no reason to use "disproportionate force". Who is provoking who?

Lebanon and Palestine have known terrorist organizations within their government, have done nothing in stifling terrorism and have excepted funding and weapons from other countries (a.k.a. Iran and Syria) to feed the terrorist mission.

How does Israel strategically try to counter act their aggressors when they are hidden in the masses of 3 million civilians? They use what military intelligence (and yes, I mean that sincerely otherwise the US wouldn't be keeping the IDF in their good graces) they possess. They attack when there should be minimal civilian traffic, to known terrorist targets and weapons housing. While their aggressor and its citizens Cheer as they randomly shoot rockets towards Israeli civilian soil and if one Israeli falls (mother, neighbor, son, citizen) all the best, mission accomplished.

So then I ask you....What the FUCK!!!!!

I request that these governments be responsible for the bad behavior of their citizens.

Russia on Thursday condemned the Israeli attacks on Lebanon and in Gaza, and called for the release of Israeli hostages.

In a strongly worded statement, Foreign Ministry spokesman Mikhail Kamynin also called for Israel to respect Lebanon's sovereignty.

"The continued destruction of civilian infrastructure in Lebanon and the Palestinian territories and the disproportionate use of force by Israel, which causes suffering to the civilian population, can be neither understood nor justified," he said.

The Spanish government, very worried about these grave incidents, demands an end to the armed aggression against Israel and the immediate liberation of the kidnapped soldiers," the statement said.

It also called on "Israel to act with moderation and in proportion to these events given the need to avoid a spreading of violence, which would put the stability of the region in danger and would have as its principal victim, once again, the civilian population."

Amnesty International urged Israel to abide by international law Thursday, calling for Israel to halt attacks on civilian targets and for the Lebanese militia group Hizbullah to treat two kidnapped IDF soldiers humanely.

"Israel must put an immediate end to attacks against civilians and against civilian infrastructure in Lebanon, which constitute collective punishment," said Malcolm Smart of the London-based rights group. "Hizbullah must stop launching attacks against Israeli civilians and it must treat humanely the two Israeli soldiers it captured on 12 July and grant them immediate access to the International Committee of the Red Cross."

Amnesty stopped short of calling for the soldiers' release since both Lebanon and Israel were signatories of the Geneva Conventions, said Donatella Rovera, also with Amnesty. The Geneva Conventions offer protections to prisoners of war. So what? And what does Amnesty say about the IDF hostage in Palastine?

Bush's comments, during a joint news conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, came as Israel intensified attacks in Lebanon in response to a cross-border raid by Hizbullah operatives Wednesday during which two Israeli soldiers were captured.

"My attitude is this: there are a group of terrorists who want to stop the advance of peace," he said. "Those of us who are peace-loving must work together to help the agents of peace." its just upsetting that he is the only spokesperson on Israels behalf

South Africa's largest trade union umbrella organization, which has nearly two million members in fields as varied as healthcare, agriculture, engineering, mining and the arts, has called on its government to end diplomatic ties with Israel.

Calling Israel an "apartheid state," the Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) demanded the recall of South Africa's ambassador from Tel Aviv, a boycott of Israeli products, and general sanctions against the Jewish state, in protest over Israeli policies in Gaza and the West Bank.

A trade boycott could have serious implications for South Africa, since Israel is the top destination for the country's exports. Israel's exports to South Africa totaled $239.9 million in 2004.

France's foreign minister condemned Israeli attacks on Lebanon on Thursday, and said he supported Beirut's calls for the UN Security Council to intervene.
The Israeli invasion "is a disproportional act of war with negative consequences," Philippe Douste-Blazy told France's Europe-1 radio. He added that France was calling for "the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Lebanon to be preserved." "integrity" good choice of words

Douste-Blazy appeared to be stepping up France's opposition to the Israeli campaign on a country with historical ties to Paris. On Wednesday, he condemned Israeli strikes but also the kidnapping of two Israeli soldiers by Hizbullah, and he demanded their release.
